Take me out to the ball game isn’t just for baseball anymore. Have you considered taking your children to a D.C. United soccer game? They are very action packed and family friendly!
My husband and I were excited to take our two boys ages 6 and 8 years old to the game. We arrived to RFK Stadium Lot 8, two hours before the game start time. Why? Because it gave us time to tailgate and check out all the activity tents setup along the walk to the stadium. We had planned to enter the stadium when the gates opened so the boys could participate in Kids Day at the VW Garage area. They had to collect 8 stamps in a passport book by participating in activities such as an obstacle course, pass and shoot drill, design a spirit sign, visit Talon the mascot and may others. It was good we got to the VW Garage early because the lines for each activity were really, really long and if we didn’t divide and conquer the boys would have not gotten 8 stamps before the game started. When we turned in their completed passports, we received a D.C. United reusable bag with a D.C. United puzzle, jump rope, coloring pages, and crayons.
On the walk to our Mezzanine level seats, we picked up our hot dogs and soft drinks since we purchased the Family Pack ticket deal that is offered during certain games during the season. We also picked up the game giveaway item that was a mini fan towel and program so we could follow the players during the game. Once in our seats, we enjoyed a great game against the New England Revolution. There was lots of action and cheering with DC United winning 3-2!
