Our Kids is excited to announce another fall outing option located in Fairfax County near Clifton, VA. We took our children (ages 2, 4, 6) out to Whitehall Farm for their Fall Fun Days event. With over 200 acres of land, Whitehall Farm follows sustainable farming methods, providing their customers with high-quality farm products. This is the first year that Whitehall Farm has opened their beautiful establishment to the public.
As you head on over to Whitehall Farm, make sure that you park in the open lot located off of Colchester Road. It’s not too hard to find, as there are largely decorated Minions at the entrance. Parking is free. Once parked, you will have to walk down a decent sized hill to get to the admission tent. Strollers, wagons, etc are not recommended because the ground is uneven and bumpy. If you are bringing along a non-walker, you may want to consider bringing a baby backpack carrier. We did see a few other families there with strollers so it is possible, just not recommended.
Tickets are $12 per person. Children under 3 are free. You can purchase tickets online or in person. Your admission includes hay wagon rides, a large corn maze, inflatables for kids, viewing chickens and pigs and corn hole for adults. Activities available on-site for additional fees may include: pumpkins (sold by the pound), food & drinks, face painting, and other activities that vary by date.
As you enter the farm, you will see a large pumpkin patch to the left and a cornfield to the right. Great photo opportunity! Walk up the hill and on the other side are three large bounce inflatables, a chicken coupe, pig area, face painting and food station, as well as the area where the hayrides start.
We experienced most everything that the paid admission allows. Our children had a blast on the moon bounce slides! They enjoyed seeing the chickens and pigs, too. Their most favorite part was the approximately 25-minute hayride that took us through the woods to the farmers market and back. On the way back we were able to spot a few deer. We would recommend bringing a picnic lunch or dinner to enjoy on the farm. There is a TON of space to put out a blanket or you can use one of their picnic tables.
Whitehall Farm is a hidden gem that prides itself on its rich history and hundreds of acres of land. They limit the use of pesticides on their crops, practice animal husbandry, and avoid using genetically modified seeds on the farm. This is not the Wally World of Fall Festivals. You will not find a gazillion slides and vendors. This is the place to go to appreciate the beauty of nature with all of the simplicities of a fun fall day. Our children left with huge smiles on their faces and happiness in their hearts. Whitehall Farm is a breath of fresh air and we will certainly be back!
