Goldfield Ghost Town, the abandoned old mining town, now has a lot to offer.
Of course, you’re welcome to browse through the various shops and as you go you’ll start to see just how many things to do in Goldfield Ghost Town.
Here are some of the most fun and most unique things to do in Goldfield Ghost Town.
#1 Taste Homemade Prickly Pear Fudge
Visit the Mother Lode Merchantile and ask for a sample of their original, homemade Prickly Pear Fudge (made out of the Prickly Pear Cactus).
If that doesn’t sound good to you, you can always opt for the Gold Nugget fudge topped with real 23K gold.
#2 Cool Off With Some Prickly Pear Lemonade
Especially when it’s so hot outside, stop by The Coffee Cantina and Bakery to try some of their Prickly Pear Lemonade.
#3 See 25+ Venomous Snakes & Other Creatures
The snakes come from Arizona as well as all over the world at the Superstition Serpentarium. This is the owner’s personal collection. They are very knowledgeable about the snakes (& other venomous creatures they have on display) and you’ll be surprised at what you see and how active some of the snakes are during your visit.
#4 Soar over the Superstition Mountain Range
Soar at 30 miles per hour on the Superstition Zipline. This zipline, while a bit short at 115-feet long, gives you a great view and thrill. It’s fun for kids and adults and it’s great 2 people can go up together at a time. Use this Groupon to save on tickets.
#5 Pan for Gold & Sluice for Gems
Head to Prospector’s Palace to pan for gold or sluice for gems. Here you can purchase a bag of paydirt and use troughs and other equipment used in the authentic techniques to see what you can find. Experts are there to help you.
#6 Enjoy Some Ice Cream
Grab some ice cream at the Miners Grill & Ice Cream Parlor to cool off. There are a large number of flavors to choose from. The line does get long especially during the summer and on weekends so bring a little patience.
#7 See Objects Defy Gravity
The Mystery Shack is fun for the whole family. Here you’ll see lots of objects that simply defy gravity.
#8 Ride the Superstition Narrow Gauge Railroad
This 36″ gauge train is a Plymouth diesel that pulls a passenger car and caboose. You’ll take an approximately 20-minute, 1.5 mile ride around the Goldfield Ghost town while hearing more about the history of the town, the mountains and the desert itself.
#9 Witness an Old West Gun Fight
Watch the gunfighters perform right in the middle of the Goldfield “streets.” This is your chance to watch the Goldfield cowboys and cowgirls in action.
This happens on the hour from 12pm to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays from November to April.
#10 Take a Mine Tour
Learn all about how the mine worked and hear about more of the history from the tour guide.
#11 Soak Up The Views With a Jeep Tour
You can also book a jeep tour right in town and enjoy driving through the desert and soaking up all the views.
How Much Does It Cost?
The town itself is free to roam around, take pictures and enjoy the views.
Parking is also free.
All other activities are a pay-per-activity and the prices vary depending on what you want to do.
