Everyone goes to see light shows around the holidays but not everyone gets to experience larger-than-life hand carved and dyed ice sculptures. This year’s ICE! exhibit at Gaylord National at National Harbor features two million tons of hand-carved ice created by over 40 artisans. Stunning doesn’t even begin to describe the exhibit.
This year’s ICE! exhibit is better than ever since it features none other than Charlie Brown and the gang from Peanuts. Room after (chilly) room showcases the story of how Charlie Brown learns the true meaning of Christmas. But, there is more to do than just look at the gorgeous sculptures. There are four two story slides made of ice (one is reserved just for the little ones), Snoopy’s doghouse (made out of ice of course) that children can crawl through, and other tunnels to explore.
Once you are finished looking at the ice sculptures, warm up with a cup of hot coco and stay to explore Christmas Village. There is something for everyone from an indoor skating rink, to gingerbread house decorating, and train and carousel rides. For a truly charming experience, check out Storytime with Mrs. Claus and her elf Snowflake. Mrs. Claus even provides milk and her home-backed chocolate chip cookies. Fans of Charlie Brown and Peanuts won’t want to miss having brunch with the characters where they do everything from pose for pictures to play limbo and visit your table for some quality time while you eat. Also be sure to catch the new holiday show, Cirque Dreams, which features incredible acts of acrobatics and contortion.
For the best experience check out the many packages available. Check out options including combo passes, play & save packages, and even options with an overnight stay. Admission for children three and under are free. Be sure to bundle up if you go! ICE! provides warm blue parkas to wear in the exhibit but we highly recommend wearing hats and gloves as well.
