The New Kids Play Gallery in Gaithersburg

Kids Play Gallery is a fun, new indoor playspace geared toward the younger set. Located in Gaithersburg, it is a bright, clean space that is welcoming for children and adults alike.Kids Play Gallery is set-up like a small town with a series of playhouses. There is a garage where kids can put together, then take apart, a car; a diner where kids can serve up meals; a well-stocked grocery store; a full-service salon; an ice-cream truck; an animal hospital; and a fire station with a burning building. There are also other things to do in town, like driving Cozy Coupes (all with a gas station stop) and hopping on the fire truck. There is also a train table loaded with playthings, and a fishing boat with actual fish. (Toy fish, mind you—with magnets inside their mouths.)My son’s personal favorite was the burning building. It’s not what you think! The adventure starts at the Fire Station, which has a long firehose. He got a real kick out of putting imagined fires. (There is no actual fire, of course.)

The burning building has a built-in slide for a quick escape, a cute touch. He also liked trying out the several attires for different professions. But for most of the morning we spent there, he made the rounds, taking his firefighting duties to heart.

Kids Play Gallery may not be the largest indoor playspace in the DMV, but it has plenty of opportunities for imaginative play. We spent about two hours. It could have been longer if naptime wasn’t calling either. A visit makes a fun morning or afternoon outing! The venue also has a Party Room, making for a wonderful birthday party destination.

If you go:

  • Admission is $15 per child for all-day play.
  • There is plenty of free parking.
  • No shoes are allowed in the play gallery. Socks are required for both children and parents.
  • There is a designated room for eating. You can buy snacks there or bring your own lunch.
