Forget about Old MacDonald and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Ryan Buckle is the new voice in children’s music for the DC area. Not only does he story tell through singing, he also performs science experiments throughout his repertoire.
Ryan Buckle hits the stage every Tuesday at 10:30am at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, VA. Let me start off by telling you a bit about his act. Then we can talk about Jammin’ Java – the neat lil place that it is. Ryan Buckle is that likeable guy that every one wants to befriend. He has the right thing to say at the right time to children and adults alike. His songs are catchy and interactive – a definite must for his audience. Songs like, Waddle and Reaching for the Sky were huge hits as Ryan came off stage and shared his musical talents up close and personal to the little ones.
So while he has captivated his audience with his voice, Ryan has also thrown in some extra excitement by stopping between songs every now and again to inspire and amaze kids with awesome science experiments. At our particular show, Ryan caught the attention of the onlookers through magic ink, an electric ball and floating smoke rings. Ryan did not miss one second of opportunity to educate the audience on gravity, a vortex and other ‘big’ science terms.
Jammin’ Java is known for hosting a variety of performers while serving up some good eats and drinks. For the weekday Children’s Series, you pay $5 for anyone one and older. Walk to the back area where the stage is and find a seat. We arrived 15 minutes early and found a seat without a problem. Strollers aren’t a bad idea, however, you really will not need it since the kiddos are usually up and moving around. If you have an infant, there are spots to have the carrier or stroller if need be. Order a pretzel, indulge in a coffee and watch your children light up as they listen to Ryan Buckle. It’s pretty fantastic. The bathrooms are located all the way in the back to the left of the stage. There is one infant changing station. Ryan Buckle ends his show with lots of high fives and sticker heaven. CD’s are available for retail and you can also purchase one of the electric balls that he uses in the show.
Tidbit of the Day: After speaking with Ryan Buckle post-show, he mentioned that they would be performing at Celebrate Fairfax the weekend of June 8th. Be sure to come out and support him! You won’t be disappointed.
