Art loving kids and adults in Montgomery County have a new outlet for creativity at Spiritual Unicorn Art. This mobile art studio hosts parties in your home for 4 or more people and provides materials for painting in its pop up locations around Silver Spring.
We visited the Spiritual Unicorn Art tent at the Fenton Street Market Place at the Silver Spring Civic Center. Estefani Rondon, owner, sets up an outdoor art studio here every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For only $10 per child she will outline a creation of their choice on canvas and provide acrylic and tempera paints for them to add color.
Estefani is patient and knowledgeable and will help with color suggestions and technique for painters of all levels. Adults wishing to paint their own canvas pay $15. Canvases and smocks are provided for all painters.
My daughter loved painting here. Estefani drew a beach scene for her and gave great tips for brush strokes and color mixing that made it feel like an art class rather than a drop in studio. On the day of our visit painters ranging from toddler to adult dropped in to paint under the tent. There is no time limit for painting. You can even add glitter at the end!
Another opportunity to catch up with Spirited Unicorn Art is on Monday evenings at Sweet Frog in the Four Corners area of Silver Spring (100 Lexington Drive). Rain or shine, Estefani is here at this location from 5:30 to 8 p.m. weekly. Price for painting here at Sweet Frog is the same as listed above – $10 for kids and $15 for adults. No frozen yogurt is included in the price.
For those looking to book an art themed party or play date, Spiritual Unicorn Art will come to you. Party prices begin at $150 for four people and increase by $15 a painter beyond that. Set-up, clean-up and all materials are included in the price. Discounts are given for girl scouts as well as school and church groups. Adult party packages are also available.
Spiritual Unicorn Art is a great community resource. My daughter loved the freedom of painting outdoors under the guidance of Estefani and I loved the price! Visiting again is definitely on our summer list of things to do!
