#6 Sugar Mountain Resort

The closest snow tubing park to Banner Elk is Sugar Mountain Resort. Sugar Mountain is well-known for its excellent snowmaking capabilities on the ski slopes, and the same can be said for its snow tubing runs. A conveyor carpet lift serves six runs, and Sugar is likely to be open the most days each winter.

The tubing runs are adjacent to the skating rink, and both are easily accessible because they have their own parking lot before you get to the ski resort further up the mountain.

Tube down 700-foot snow-packed lanes before returning to the top on the Magic Carpet Lift. There is no prior experience required, and it is suitable for people of all ages. Rental of tubes is included. The Sugar Mountain Resort Ski Lodge is across the street from the Tubing Park, which is part of the golf course.

The Ice Skating Rink is nearby. The park has night tubing lights, regularly groomed lanes, and snowmaking. Sessions last just under two hours and are available every day (usually from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.), weather permitting.

Tubing 2-hour sessions at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. Purchase tickets at the park, which go on sale one hour before each session. There are no online tickets. Children under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult. Open from December to March, weather permitting. Snow guns and groomers keep it in excellent condition.
