I’m always on the hunt for events that are just as entertaining for kids as they are for grown-ups. Pinstripes is a great new addition that fits the bill. Pinstripes is a full-service restaurant that happens to have a complete sound-proofed bowling alley and Bocce courts.
We recently visited for breakfast and bowling during Mom and Tots, which we predict will quickly become a popular destination for playdates and a way to spend quality time with the kids. Bowling is a high-tech experience that is great for kids. When you key in your names you can indicate who is a child and bumpers automatically appear when it is the tot’s turn to play and disappear when it’s the grown-ups turn to bowl.
Pinstripes also has ball ramps on-hand to allow children to easily roll the ball in the right place and gain some speed, making it much more likely they will knock pins down and enjoy the game. Balls as light as six pounds are available, which two and three year olds can easily handle, and each pound ball is a different color making it less likely a little one will have a run-in with a heavy ball.
Mom and Tots bowling is from 10am to noon weekdays. It’s a steal at $5.00 per child with free shoe rental and Moms bowl free. A light breakfast menu is available with freshly made muffins, mini-waffles, yogurt and granola, fruit bowls, and coffee and juice. Comfy couches and tables are set up just behind each lane making it easy to snack, hang out, and bowl. When it’s not Mom and Tots time, bowling costs $5.00 per adult and $3.00 per child under 12 with $4.00 shoe rental. A $10.00 lunch special is available during the week in the bowling alley.
Pinstripes is kid-friendly in other ways, including bocce courts. My three year old enjoyed a shorter game of bocce and you can play for $5.00 per person per person per hour. Sunday is Family Day and kids 12 and under eat free after 5:00 from the kids menu, which includes pizza, noodles, and grilled cheese sandwiches. Sunday brunch is also free for kids five and under. Pinstripes also offers birthday parties in the bowling alley.
The entire restaurant is stroller-friendly. There are changing tables, highchairs, and boosters available.
Pinstripes is certain to become a popular family destination, but it’s a great place to keep on your radar for date nights we well.
