Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theatre is offering seven weeks of summer camps with themes like Myths & Legends, Superheroes and Villains, Improve & Theatre Games, and more, beginning in mid-June.
Full and half day sessions are available. The morning session runs from 9:30am-12:30pm and is drama based. The afternoon session starts at 1pm and ends at 4pm and includes both drama and musical theatre. Children can attend just the morning session, just the afternoon session, or both! Children who register for both sessions stay all day.
The camps are usually two weeks long and culminate in a 15-30 minute show on the last day; parents and friends are invited to watch. While the show is not a full production, it is often an abbreviated version of a play or musical, or a musical review of many Broadway style songs. A lot of the time the children write their own script to perform!
The camp is geared toward rising 1st graders through rising 8th graders, and the campers are divided into two or three groups based on age.
