Looking for a place where the entire family can enjoy golfing? TopGolf in the Kingstowne area of Fairfax County is the place to visit! With a bi-level, climate controlled driving range for the adult golfers and miniature golf on two separate courses, TopGolf delivers a variety of family fun. Beginners, intermediate and advanced golfers can all find somewhere to practice their skills.
Entrance to the facility is up a steep flight of stairs or via the accessible ramp for strollers and wheelchairs located to the right as you are facing the main entrance. Patrons enter a large, open area where you check in for either mini golf or the driving range.
Adjacent to this foyer are a large party room and lounge with two flat screen televisions. This room which has both high top and low tables can be rented for private parties. The restrooms (no changing tables) are immediately to your left inside the front door. An ATM is conveniently located in the foyer.
After paying for your games, $7 for adults, $6 for kids 13 and under, and collecting equipment, you walk through another lounge area which includes an adult bar serving beer, wine, bottled juice, sports and energy drinks.
Young golfers have their choice of two, 18 hole courses: The Valley, which is designed for toddlers and beginning golfers or the Mountain Range which features intermediate, more challenging holes.
If you’re feeling adventurous and don’t have a stroller, try the 18 hole Mountain Range. There are at least 4 wooden steps between each hole which makes this a course for walkers. The soothing sounds of water engage your senses where you can immerse yourself in a beautifully landscaped area.
Three waterfalls and two fountains with turquoise water add a tranquil backdrop to a well maintained course where only a few holes were in need of obvious maintenance due to torn greens. Several benches are scattered throughout the Mountain Range course which provides some shady sections under canopied trees. The course itself appeals to experienced mini golfers and is filled with challenging and imaginatively designed holes.
The Valley course is the perfect way to introduce a toddler or beginner to the game of miniature golf. It is stroller accessible and fairly flat. A covered gazebo at the beginning of this course has beverage machines with soda, sports drinks and water. The waterfall theme continues in un-shaded areas where a wooden bridge walkway takes you across flowing water. Large rocks and shrubs surround the greens which are fairly easy to navigate and provide a few hills for variety. The greens are in good condition and suitable for toddlers aged 3 and over.
Your walk to the mini golf courses takes you by the two level driving range where adults can reserve suites to practice their skills. Servers from the full service restaurant deliver food and drink to golfers. Food includes items from a small breakfast menu and a lunch and dinner menu with a variety of offerings including: pizza, burgers, chicken tenders, nachos and hot dogs. There are four children’s choices for about $5. Beer and wine are served to the patrons in the driving range and families can also enjoy drinks and food served on a large, open deck.
Check their website for revolving weekly game specials and deals. Summer hours are currently in session with early openings at 8am and late closings at midnight on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. The service at TopGolf was friendly, and the facility appeared very clean.
