Plum Creek Alpacas: An Alpaca Farm (Feed & Interact with Alpacas!)

Plum Creek Alpacas is an Alpaca Farm in Prescott, Arizona and is home to well, you guessed it…Alpacas!

Sitting just 90-miles outside of Phoenix, this alpaca farm is where you can get up close and personal with alpacas and get a chance to feed them.

Our family of four recently visited Plum Creek Alpacas to take a tour and meet the alpacas and it was definitely a new experience for us.

The 20-acre alpaca farm is a breeding farm. All the alpacas are Arizona born and they can actually be purchased here if you want to own your own alpaca.

Tours

On an approximately 1-hour family-friendly tour of Plum Creek Alpacas, a guide will walk you around the property and into separate enclosures of Alpacas.

The enclosures, which each have a lot of room, separate the males, females and moms with new babies.

The owners give the tour and are very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. They give you a small bag of feed so you can feed different alpacas that approach as you enter the different enclosures.

When we visited, we were able to enter 10 enclosures and see over 45 alpacas.

On the tour, you’ll learn things like:

  • Alpacas (obviously!)
  • The difference between alpacas and llamas
  • Alpaca predators
  • Why males and females are separated
  • Products that can be made from Alpaca fiber
  • Alpaca farming

As this is a breeding farm, they occasionally have babies so you may see new alpacas during your visit.

The tour ends at the gift shop where you can see and purchase products made from Alpaca fiber.
