#1 Chesapeake Beach Water Park

Chesapeake Beach Water Park is a family-friendly water park with pools, a lazy river (with a cave you’ll float through!), slides, waterfalls and even private cabanas you can rent. 

If you are local, a season pass is a great option. And even if you aren’t local, this makes for a really fun day trip.

#2 Water Park at Bohrer Park

512 S Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD  Details

The City of Gaithersburg Water Park at Bohrer Park is another outdoor water park. Some of their features include:

  • A pool with deep lanes
  • A shallow play area
  • A 250-ft double water slide
  • Smaller water slides
  • Dumping buckets
  • A tiled island with palm trees
  • A large alligator and log for the kids to jump off of

The water basketball is also a big hit!

There is a snack bar run by Boardwalk Fries so you can expect hamburgers fries and similar types of food.

And when you’re done with the water park or you just need a break, there is a playground outside of the water and even a mini golf course at the park. 

#3 Swansfield Mini Waterpark

This many water park has a heated pool, along with a slide and diving board.  We definitely enjoyed this waterpark early in the season when all the other pools were still colder.

Even the showers are solar heated!

The water slide and splash pad are definitely the big draw here. There is also a good size baby pool and unlike some of the other water parks, there is a decent amount of shaded areas too. 

There’s a nice size playground next door for when you’re done at the waterpark. On most of our visits, we found an ice cream truck and sometimes a food truck as well for a treat.

#4 Glenn Dale Splash Park

The Glenn Dale splash park is great for younger kids as there are many splash pads for both toddlers and kids.

We appreciate that you can bring snacks and drinks for the family and that there is lots of seating and tables available. 

You can also pay online so you can avoid having to wait in line.

Most of the park caters to the younger kids, while some older kids will still find it fun too. Keep in mind it only goes up to 3-ft in depth.

#5 Splash Mountain Water Park

2901 Philadelphia Ave, Ocean City, MD 21842  |  Details

While this water park is a bit outside of the DC area, Ocean City is a popular summer getaway. If you’re visiting Ocean City with kids, the Splash Mountain Water Park inside Jolly Rodger Amusement Park is a must visit!

Is the area’s largest water park and features 16 slides, kiddie pools, a lazy river, pumping slides and other water activities.

As you can tell by the name, they not only have a water park but you can also participate in other family fun activities including a race track, rides, mini golf, train ride and more. 

They have two locations: one at the pier on the Ocean City boardwalk and another on 30th Street.

#6 Six Flags America Water Park

#7 Germantown Indoor Swim Center

If you prefer to escape the Heat I would love to swim without getting a sunburn,  An indoor option is something to consider.

The Germantown indoor Swim Center have a slide, 4 diving boards, 3 platforms and pools. 

In the lagoon style Leisure Pool, you’ll find 4 water slides that inside a rock formation. One of which is a tube slide and another has a gentle slope for kids who don’t want to go as fast.

There is a Zero Entry pool for the younger ones and Tumble buckets.
